Vessel
NEW LARGE-SCALE WORK IN SHENZHEN CONTINUES BASED UPON'S EXPLORATION OF STORY, ORIGIN AND MEANING
“The humble vessel is perhaps humankind's most profound discovery. A form that allows something else to exist within: it protects, stores, and transports. It is that which contains and shelters; it is a bowl, a box and a building. Without it, humankind would still be kneeling at the water's edge to drink, carrying food in two hands and living under the stars."

As with many of our works, our commission for Snow Beer began by searching for a story within the organisation.
Vessel, a six-metre bronze sculpture, echoes both an ancient container and the cross-section of a grain, whose husk protects the precious seed within. It honours those vessels integral to Snow Beer's existence, from grain, to store, to glass.
Metaphorically, the vessel extends beyond the making of the beer. Snow Beer's campus becomes a vessel for life's activities, and the company, a vessel for employees, consumers and community.
Delivered by UAP|Urban Art Projects for Snow Beer's new headquarters in Shenzhen, the work joins a growing body of large-scale Based Upon works in the region, including Grain of Rice, the monolithic ten-metre bronze commissioned by HSBC to mark its 150th anniversary.
